Unconscious Bias in the Workplace: Building a More Respectful, Inclusive & Effective Workplace
Today's workplace is increasingly diverse, multi-cultural, and multi-generational. While differences in backgrounds, experiences, perspectives, and communication styles can be a tremendous strength, they can also create misunderstandings, interpersonal conflict, and unintended bias.
HR Learning Center's Unconscious Bias Training Seminar provides managers and employees with a practical understanding of unconscious bias and how it can influence workplace interactions, perceptions, and employment decisions. Participants will learn how their own assumptions and perceptions may affect the way they communicate, evaluate, manage, and make decisions involving employees and colleagues.
The goal is not to suggest that people can eliminate every unconscious bias. Rather, this training provides practical strategies for recognizing and managing bias so that it is less likely to influence workplace behavior and employment decisions.
The seminar also examines how unconscious bias can contribute to discrimination, harassment, stereotyping, and workplace conflict, and provides practical guidance for creating a respectful workplace where employees are evaluated based on their qualifications, performance, and contributions, not assumptions or stereotypes.
Managers will learn how to better understand and appreciate cultural, ethnic, and generational differences while recognizing the value that diverse perspectives can bring to an organization. They will also learn practical communication and decision-making strategies designed to reduce bias, strengthen workplace relationships, and promote a culture of respect.
Why Unconscious Bias Training Matters
Unconscious bias can influence seemingly routine workplace decisions and interactions, from hiring, assignments, performance evaluations, promotions, and discipline to how managers communicate with and respond to employees.
