Paid Sick Leave
If signed by the Governer, Connecticut would become the first state to require paid sick leave for Connecticut employees. This law only applies to Connecticut employers with 50 or more employees. The Connecticut Paid Sick Leave Legislation will be effective January 1, 2012. The law applies to private and public employers.
The law provides up to 40 hours of paid sick leave to a Connecticut employee for the following reasons:

The service worker's own illness, injury, health condition, treatment or preventive medical care

The illness, injury, health condition, treatment or preventive medical care of the service worker's child or spouse; or

The service worker’s absence due to family violence or sexual assault;
